Ferrochrome Lignosulfonate Thinner
PZT-FCL-1 is a ferrochrome lignosulfonate thinner and dispersant used to control rheology and filtration in water-based drilling fluids, and is particularly effective at elevated temperatures and in the presence of calcium and other contaminants where plain lignosulfonates lose effectiveness. The chromium complex is what gives it that thermal and contaminant tolerance. Typical treatment is 1.0 to 6.0 lb/bbl (2.9 to 17.1 kg/m3) depending on target rheology and fluid loss. IMPORTANT: chrome-based drilling additives, including ferrochrome lignosulfonate, are restricted or prohibited in a growing number of jurisdictions. Confirm the regulatory position for your operating area and consult the SDS before ordering. Where chrome is not permitted, PZT-CSL-1 calcium lignosulfonate is the chrome-free alternative, at some cost in temperature tolerance.
