Sand Content Kit

Sand is the fraction that costs money in pump liners, swab rubbers and bit nozzles rather than in the mud report. The sample is washed through a fine mesh, the retained solids settled in a graduated tube, and the result read directly as a volume percentage. It is a two-minute test that pays for itself the first time it catches degraded solids-control performance before the pumps do.
