Linseed Oil

PZT-LIN-1 linseed oil is a drying oil rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids, pressed from flaxseed; boiled/blown (oxidized) grades are chemically modified for industrial use. When boiled/blown, it polymerizes into a tough, flexible film, and is used in OBM/SBM systems as an eco-friendlier base-oil component or additive, contributing viscoelastic, film-forming, and lubricating properties. A renewable, biodegradable alternative or supplement to mineral/synthetic base oils, improving the environmental profile of an OBM system without fully sacrificing OBM performance.

  • More limited as a full base-oil replacement than a dedicated synthetic-based mud system
